Rudy Joseph Granier, 75, a native of Malagay and resident of Kraemer passed away Thursday, Oct 15, 2015.Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015 at St. Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Church in Kraemer. An additional visitation will be from 8 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday, Oct. 21 at St. Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am at the church followed by burial in the church cemetery.He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Juanita Townsend Granier; children, Duane Granier and wife Sarah, Wayne Granier, Carla Cortez and husband, Jonathan, Rachel Dominique and husband, Earl; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; step-children, Lisa Napier and husband, Andy, Dale Dickens Jr. and wife, Sukie, Sandra Hankins and husband, Billy; three step-grandsons; three step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Toby Granier and wife, Garnet, Dottie Cortez and husband, Nolan, Wanda Cortez and husband, Douglas, Nathan Granier and wife, JoAnne, Sandra Himmel and husband, Eric; dog, "Fife."He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Katherine "Kathy" Candies Granier; parents, Morris Granier and Virgie Hotard Granier; step-grandson, Ethan Napier.The first-born child of Morris Granier and Virgie Hotard Granier, Rudy, was born on January 22, 1940 and grew up in Malagay, hunting and trapping with his father. He then enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably as a member of a Communication Division from 1961 until 1964. Among his accomplishments and service to the community after the military was his dedication for 50 years as a Volunteer Fireman with the BBVFD, where he served as President from 1976 until 1992. In addition, Rudy was a founding member of the Bayou Boeuf Jaycees, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and faithful parishioner of St. Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Church for the duration of his life. For 30 years he worked in communications with AT&T and the State of Louisiana before retiring. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.Thibodaux Funeral Home in Thibodaux is in charge of arrangements.
