Rufina Y. RiveraVentura, CAOn February 4, 2017, after a lengthy illness, our beloved mother Rufina Rivera, age 96, went to be with our Lord. She was born on February 29, 1920 in a village called 'Pocho', Nayarit, Mexico, to Guillermo Ybarra and Isabel Valdez. She was a resident of Ventura County for over 68 years. She was a true trailblazer and persevered the American dream. She and her husband also helped start many relatives to fulfill that dream. She worked at the 'Chileria' for 32 years. She loved sewing and most of all tending to her garden. She is preceded in death by her husband Alfonso Rivera, parents Guillermo and Isabel Ybarra. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Vasquez, sons, David Rivera and his wife Cuca, and Alfonso Rivera and his wife Minnie. Grandchildren Isabel, Michael, Monica, Stephanie, Rachel, Dave, Nicholas, Alex, Teresa and 8 great grandchildren. A rosary will be recited at 10:30a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Ventura.
