Russell Dean Parker Greenville, SCRussell Dean Parker, age 55, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2017 surrounded by his loving family and friends after a long fought battle with cancer. Russell was preceded in death by his loving father, Bernard Parker, brother Robert Reid Parker, and uncle Clarence Reid Nesbit. Russell was born on a cold snowy day on January 9, 1962 in Monroe, North Carolina. He moved with his parents to Greenville, South Carolina as a young boy. He graduated from Wade Hampton High School and later attended Greenville Technical College. Russell began and ended his professional career as a partner with his brother at A1-Auto where he forged many lasting friendships throughout his employment. Russell loved his family and enjoyed spending many memorable moments with them throughout his life time. He learned from his father to be an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed boating, water and snow skiing, game hunting and riding motorcycles. His love for opportunities and adventures only added to his lifetime of memories. In one of his traveling excursions to Europe, Russell realized that he and his friend were in the middle of history-making when they arrived by train in Berlin and experienced the final toppling of the Berlin Wall. A few years later, Russell was fortunate to travel again to Europe with other family members to experience the beginning of his Scottish lineage by visiting the stoic Nesbit Castle in Dunn, Scotland. Russell's Christian faith was his daily salvation especially during his latter days in his battle with cancer. He was overly proud of his life time membership with Aldersgate United Methodist Church serving as an usher as well as supporting the Wednesday Night Supper Ministry. Russell is survived by his loving and faithful mother, Freida Parker; brother Ronald Parker and his wife Jan; nieces and nephew Ronni Parker Short, Lauren, Chris and Aiden Parker; and his furry companion Titus. Russell was also loved dearly by his extended family in Waxhaw, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be given in memory of Russell Parker for the Parker Hall Ministry at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at 1:30- 2:45 PM on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1 Shannon Drive, Greenville, SC, followed by a memorial service at 3:00PM, conducted by Reverend Alex Stevenson, Reverend Wayne Horne and Dr. Jay West.
