Kranzfelder, Russell L. KRANZFELDER, RUSSELL L., 93, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away peacefully at his home on October 6, 2017. He was born on Dec. 26, 1923 to Rear Admiral Edgar Paul Kranzfelder USN (ret) and Theresa Barbara Kranzfelder in Brooklyn, NY. He is survived by his loving wife Joyce. After Russ and Joyce had each previously lost two spouses, they found love again, married and had 11 years of happiness together. He is also survived by his beloved daughter Lisa Fentnor and husband Jeff, his beloved granddaughters Kaylee Arteaga (Alex) and Landa Fisher (Mike). He was the oldest of four siblings, and is survived by sisters Sabra Driscoll, Zoe Folk and brother Ed Kranzfelder (Marge), as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by an adopted son Jim Kranzfelder, two step daughters Lori Bostick (Mike) and Jill Schultz, step grandchildren Jennifer Lefevre (Patrick), Joel Bostick (Jen), and Jaime Jones (Ray) and five step great-grandchildren. All the grandchildren called him Papa. He was a proud Boy Scout earning his prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from George Washington High School in Alexandria, VA, received his Engineer Degree from The University of Pennsylvania and was a member of The Theta Xi Fraternity. He served in the
Army during
WWII and was a Cargo Transportation Specialist and also a Drill Instructor. He worked for Texas Eastern and later many years for the Bechtel Corporation building pipelines in Europe and North Africa. He moved to Scottsdale, AZ in 1969 and was owner of the Sir Lancelot Apartments for 30 years before his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 44, The Breakfast Club, The Scottsdale Presbyterian Church, the In-Joy Group at AZ Community Church in Tempe and a former member of Al-Anon. A" Celebration of Life" service will be held at Scottsdale Presbyterian Church, officiated by Pastor Bruce Johnson, 3421 N. Hayden Road in Scottsdale on Thursday Oct. 26, 2017 at 11:00 am with a reception following. A private Internment ceremony will follow at a later date at Green Acres Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Russ's name may be made to Scottsdale Presbyterian Church.
