Ruth Ann Copps, 81, of Kingwood, passed away on March 5, 2014, preceded in death by 15 weeks by her husband Dan Copps Jr. and her daughter, Kathleen Ann Barth in 2005. Ruth Ann is survived by her son, Dan Copps III and daughter-in-law, Jean Copps (both of Kingwood), sister-in-law Barbara Oliver (of Overland Park KS), and son-in-law Alan Barth and grandson, Matthew Barth (of The Woodlands). Ruth Ann was born on March 26, 1932, in Pittsburg, PA to Carl and Edith Geister. Ruth Ann was top of her class at P. S. duPont High School Class of 1949 and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ohio Wesleyan University. She was an English and Home Economics teacher at several schools including the old Bender High School in Humble. Ruth Ann's passion was interior design which inspired her to open the "The Window Shop" in downtown Humble in 1972 which she later moved next to her husband's hardware store in Kingwood. Ruth Ann and Dan were founding members of the Kingwood Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd and she was active in women's golf at both Forest Cove and Kingwood Country Clubs. Dan and Ruth Ann retired in 2006 and moved to Sun City in Georgetown to enjoy their favorite area, the Texas Hill Country. In recent years, her passions included needlework and following the golf progress of grandson Matthew, and his studies at Clemson University where he is currently a junior. A memorial service celebrating Ruth Ann's life will be held at the Kingwood Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd on Saturday, March 22, at 11:00am.
