ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — Mrs. Ruth Ussery Bolton, age 87, of Rockingham, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016 at Autumn Care in Biscoe.
She was born on May 2, 1928 in Richmond County to George and Lillian Thompson Ussery, the youngest of 11 children. Ruth was united in marriage to James Alfred Bolton on March 29, 1947. She was one of the founding members of Crestview Baptist Church, where she held many volunteer positions within the church. Ruth was a prayer warrior and was always the first one to lend a helping hand. She was awarded the State "Individual Human Service Award" in 1984. She was also an avid gardener and member of the Richmond County Farmers Market.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James in 2001; and 10 siblings.
Ruth is survived by her son, J.A. (Azalea) Bolton of Rockingham; granddaughter, Jaime (Matthew) Tang of Troutman, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Grace, Elijah, Anna and Jessie Tang; and many relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Crestview Baptist Church, 436 Crestview Drive, Rockingham.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Crestview Baptist Church with the burial to follow at Eastside Cemetery.
