Ruth B. Castle, age 78, of Florence and widow of Bennie Lee Castle, passed away Feburary 16, 2022, at her home.
She was born in Newberry County and was the daughter of the late Hubert and Lottie Kidd Brown.
Mrs. Castle was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she played the piano and sang. She was a former member of the Whitmire Town Counsel and a former employee of Whitmire High School and Cone Mills.
She is survived by her sister, Loretta Brown of Whitmire; her brother, Atlee Brown of Heath Springs, SC; six nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Russell, Robert Walker, Jennifer Addis, Chris Brown, Stephen Brown and Alicia Brown; and four great nieces and nephews, Jacob Russell, Andrew Brown, Sarah Beth Brown and Ryan Brown; and 3 grandchildren Taylor Castle, Ashley Castle, and Halee Castle.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Florence Eloise Abramczyk, and a brother, Charles H. Brown.
Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2022 at 12 PM at the Florence National Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Smith's Funeral Home from 11 AM to 12 PM.
