Ruth E. WilliamsMOUNT VERNON: Ruth E. Williams, age 78, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Marion, OH, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Mount Carmel St. Ann's hospital in Columbus, OH. She was born on January 6, 1939 in Marion, OH, to the late Wayne and Goldie (Byrd) Jones. Ruth attended Marion Harding High School and married soon after. She worked for Eaton Corporation and was the first women to forge truck axles, and was very proud of that fact. She retired from Eaton and enjoyed her many years working for the company. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, shopping, but most of all she loved being around her family. Anyone that knew her would tell you that her family was the most important thing to her. Ruth is survived by her children, Dane (Karen) Clendenen, Joseph Clendenen, Cheryl (David) Winegardner and Carol Clendenen; 8 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-granchild; two sisters, Anna Jones and Helen Hoodlet; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by 3 nephews. A celebration of life service will take place on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Sawyer-Ludwig Park Civitan Building 2, 1313 White Oaks Road, Marion, OH 43302, from 1 PM until 6 PM.
