WILKES-BARRE — Ruth H. Wojcik, 79, of the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, in the Post Acute Medical Specialty Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, where she battled complications of surgery.
She was born on Aug. 30, 1937, in Wilkes-Barre, daughter of Joseph and Anna (Snarski) Waskie. She attended Wilkes-Barre schools and graduated from Coughlin High School in 1956.
Ruth was an active member of St. Benedict's Parish in Wilkes-Barre for over 50 years. Prior to her retirement, she was employed at the Operations Center of First Eastern Bank. Ruth adored her two granddaughters and spent most of her time with her sister, Germaine, with whom she enjoyed going out to lunch.
She went through a number of surgeries over her last few years and was a fighter. Her family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for their special care.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Wojcik, and her brother-in-law, Walter Maciejczyk.
Surviving are her daughter, Deborah Harvey and her husband, William; her sister, Germaine Maciejczyk; and her two granddaughters, Eryn and Jessica Harvey; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday from E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Dominic's Church / St. Benedict's Parish, Austin Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
