Rita Hart, 89, of Alamosa, CO, passed away March 19, 2022.
Rita was born on March 26, 1932 in New York City to Anne Sobel. In 1949 she met and married Merrill A. Hart who had just completed his tour of duty with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre. Together, they had three sons and two daughters: Arin, Dustin, Christopher, Brook, and Stephanie. Rita spent the majority of her life in the Denver area and was an expert nutritionist. She worked for Natural Grocers until she was 89, having been close friends with the Natural Grocers Founders, Margaret and Phillip Isely, from the time they started the retail health food business in 1955.
In addition to her passion for sharing her knowledge (and example) about good health through diet, Rita was an avid reader and a talented writer – primarily using that talent to serve others by reviewing, proof-reading, and making editing suggestions for those seeking to publish. Above all, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother – putting the welfare of her family above all else.
Rita was preceded in death by her mother, Anne Sobel, and her brother, Murray Sobel. She is survived by her three sons and two daughters: Christopher Hart, Stephanie Hart, Arin Hart & Jamie Hart , Brooke Hart, and Dustin Hart & Crystal Hart, and also by eleven grandchildren.
There will not be a grave service , but a funeral viewing will be as Rita, thinking about serving humanity to the end, donated her body to science. However, a memorial to celebrate her life will be March 24,2022.
