Ruth (Schumacher) HayRuth Schumacher Hay was born on September 23, 1969 in Spencer, Iowa.In 1978 her family moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa where Ruth graduated in 1988. Ruth furthered her education at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota.Ruth met Jim in 1992 while they were both working part time jobs at John Morrell.Jim and Ruth were married on September 15, 1995. The family grew to include Riley in 1999 and Sophie in 2005. Ruth worked at First Premier Bank, Best Business Products and then in 2000 started her own consignment business that she ran until 2006. Wanting to spend more time with her family she took a job with CCC Information Services. In 2014 she joined the Smithfield Foods/John Morrell as an Administrative Assistant for Quality Assurance in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.Surviving is her husband Jim, children Riley and Sophia, her mother Gwen Anderson, brother Dave Schumacher, Trudy, and their children Sara, and Jack, all of Sioux Falls. Nephew Dave Guthrie, Kassie, and baby Asher of Spirit Lake, Iowa, along with numerous Aunts, Uncles, and friends.Proceeding Ruth in her death was her father in 1988, her stepfather Paul Anderson in 2008 and her sister Rhonda Guthrie in 2011. Her grandmother Ruth Stephas in 2012. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Southern Hills Methodist Church in Sioux Falls. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm with family present at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www heritagesfsd.com
