B. Ruth Hutto (Warden) died peacefully in Kingwood, Texas on January 30, 2016 at the age of 87 years. Ruth is survived by her brother Kerby Warden of Houston, Texas, her Son, Michael Hutto of Kingwood, Texas, her daughter, Patricia Mauck and her husband, David Mauck, of Kingwood, Texas, and her grandchildren Elisha Mauck of San Antonio, Texas, and Terri Mauck, of Kingwood, Texas. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years.
Ruth was born on May 16, 1928 in McKinney, Texas to Lester K. Warden and Bertha G. Warden. She graduated from Texas Christian University, then obtained her teaching certificate from the University of Houston, then a Master of Education Degree from Sam Houston State University in 1974. In 1950, she married O.R. (Hut) Hutto in Houston, who she met while they attended TCU. After moving to Houston, Ruth began working for Exxon. After receiving her teaching certificate, Ruth taught in Houston ISD schools and after receiving her master degree, Ruth was a school counselor at several Humble ISD schools located in Kingwood.
A Kingwood resident since 1971, Ruth was an active member of her church, Kingwood United Methodist Church (UMC), volunteering with programs for the elderly, ESL classes, and several ministries. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.
Visitation and Reception will be held at 12:30PM, Saturday, February 6, 2016 in the Parlor of Kingwood United Methodist Church, with a funeral service following at 1:30PM, with the Reverend Jim Welch officiating.
