Ruth Jane ScholtenArmour - Ruth J. Scholten, 91, died at Douglas County Memorial Hospital in Armour on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Funeral service will be Friday, November 11, 2016 at Grandview Reformed Church in Armour with burial following in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Armour. Visitation will be Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 5 - 7 PM at Grandview Reformed Church in Armour with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour.Ruth Jane Scholten was born on April 23, 1925 in Douglas County, SD to Sherman C. and Rose (Carson) Winner. She graduated from Corsica High School in Corsica, SD. She married Lorn Melvin Scholten on September 26, 1947 in Corsica. Ruth became a member of Grandview Reformed Church in Armour, SD in 1947 where she taught Sunday School and Bible School, and was an active member of the Ladies Aide, serving as Treasurer. Lorn died on January 28, 2015. She was an active member of the Armour community, volunteering at Golden Living Center, Prairie Villa, Lorrain Theater, and guided Friendship Bible Coffee. Ruth enjoyed crocheting, making quilts, reading, crossword puzzles, tending to her roses, and spending time with her granddaughters and great-granddaughters. She is survived by her 2 children, Karen (Terry) Kovar of Sioux Falls, SD and Alan (Judy) Scholten of Armour, SD, 3 granddaughters, Alissa (Ted) Tornow and their daughters, Autumn Grace and Alanna Joy of Armour, SD, Kayla (Ryan) Warnke of Sheldon, IA, and Haley Scholten and special friend, Taylor Jennings of Mitchell, SD, and sister-in-law, Gladys Winner of Denver, CO.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and twin brother, Ralph Winner.
