Ruth Lydia Stark Pantke Maves went to live with Jesus on April 28th 2015. She was born on May 29, 1925 to Hilda and William Stark. Ruth lived with her parents on their farm in Hinsdale, IL. When she was a young adult she worked at the Electromotive factory to aid the war effort. After the war's end she met and married Ralph Pantke. They adopted two children, Kathy and Jim. Ruth was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She always planted a huge garden and would can what she couldn't feed her family or give away. Her hot dog relish was legendary and coveted by all who knew her. In later years Ruth worked at the 3M factory in Burr Ridge IL. She was a very hard worker and was loved by everyone she worked with. Later in life she reconnected with an old flame Charlie Maves. They married and lived together happily until his death. She arrived in Juneau Feb. 2013 to live with her daughter Kathy's family. She enjoyed participating in the global and local mission activities of Chapel by the Lake, the charitable endeavors of the Women of the Moose, and swimming with the water aerobics group. She was grateful to be part of the welcoming community of Juneau for the last 2 years of her life. She is survived by her son Jim Pantke, daughter Kathy Swanson, Bob, grandchildren Christian, Libby, Jonah, Jennifer, and great-grandchildren Adin, Gabriel and Ellie. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Than, Dr. Lindy Jones, Dr. Bursell, all the wonderful folks at the Bridge and senior services. A celebration of her life will be this Sunday, 4:00 at the log chapel at Chapel by the Lake. Please join us.
