Ruth E. Sturm1916 - 2014Ruth E. Sturm, 98, of Kenosha passed away on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at St. Josephs Nursing Home. Ruth was born on Jan. 7, 1916, in Kenosha to Albert and Emma (Bauer) Petzke and she graduated from Kenosha High School. Ruth married Helmuth Sturm in Kenosha on April 15, 1939. She worked as a unit secretary at Kenosha Hospital for many years, as a bookkeeper at Simons and at The Dollar Store in downtown Kenosha. Ruth was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church and was active in the Ladies Aid and Bible studies. She was active with the PTA and helped with fundraising at the Kenosha Orthopedic School. Ruth loved to crochet and was a marvelous baker but her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.She was preceded in death by, her husband; her parents; her daughter-in-law, Mary Sturm; a great grandson, Zachary and six siblings, Laura, Alma, Hugo, George, Norbert and Alwin Petzke.Ruth is survived by, one son, Robert Sturm of Tampa, Fla.; three daughters, Jacqueline (Lou) Davit of Milwaukee, Patricia (Richard) Bushey and Cynthia Sturm both of Kenosha; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.Funeral services for Ruth will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at Friedens Lutheran Church (5038 - 19th Avenue) with interment to follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Friedens Lutheran Church or the Kenosha Achievement Center would be greatly appreciated.The family would like to thank the staffs at St. Josephs Nursing Home and Hospice Alliance for their loving care.
