Ryan E. Shong 29, of Mesa, AZ, formerly of Killingly, CT and Vero Beach, FL, passed unexpectedly Sunday, August 26, 2018. He was welcomed into Heaven by his brother, Michael J. Shong, and his grammy, Patricia Shong. Born October 13, 1988, in Worcester, MA, son of Michael J. Shong, and Jill Privee.
Ryan relocated to Arizona a year ago where he visited and experienced new adventures with some new found friends. Ryan loved to skateboard and ride BMX. Ryan fulfilled his dream of skydiving and completed a tandem jump in Cape Cod, MA while visiting on vacation with his lifelong love, Caitlin Bortugno. Ryan was extremely proud of his recent achievement in obtaining his GED in July 2018.
Ryan is survived by his mother, Jill Privee of Dayville, CT; his father, Michael J. Shong and his wife, Darline, of Dudley, MA; maternal grandparents, Eli & June Choiniere, of Oxford, MA; paternal grandfather, Leroy Shong of Webster, MA, siblings, Christopher M. Shong and his wife, Megan of Gilbert, AZ, Jacob & Olivia Privee of Brooklyn, CT, Devin Ernst of Sturbridge, MA; his godmother, Lori Madore of Sturbridge, MA; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
In lieu of calling hours, there will be "Celebrations of Life" for family & friends to be held at 6 pm, Friday, August 31, 2018 at the home of Ryans' Aunt, 18907 N. 92nd Way, Scottsdale, AZ, 85255 and 6pm-11pm, Tuesday, Sept. 4th at the Danielson Elks Lodge, 13 Center St., Danielson, CT 06239. Those who desire may make memorial donations in memory of Ryan to their local animal shelter.
