Sally B. Garnett, 82, of Springfield, was called home on Saturday, May 24, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born May 8, 1941, in Stephen’s, GA., to Rose (Smith) Burgess and the late Charles Burgess.

Sally attended Springfield Public Schools and went on to work at Uniroyal for 12 years and then Hallmark for 22 years until she retired. She was known by her family and friends as always willing to give the shirt off her back to help you. Sally was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she served as a Missionary and an Usher for several years. She loved shopping, going out to eat and had an impressive hat and elephants’ collection. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and defending her favorite sports teams.

Sally is pre-deceased by her brother Robert (Adelaide) Burgess.

To cherish her memory Sally is survived by her mother Rose (Smith) Burgess of Springfield, MA her loving husband of 55 years Lee Garnett, her brother in-law Don (Yolanda) Hunter of New Orleans, LA, two children Walter Lavender of Springfield, MA and Melissa (Daryl) Garnett-Wiggins of Springfield, MA, three grandchildren Brittany (Andre) Ambrose of Ellington, CT, Jamel Lee Hunter of Chicopee, MA and Imani Wiggins-Johnson of Springfield, MA along with 3 great-grandchildren Nasir Cuffie, Nathan Johnson and Nolan Johnson. Sally had five best friends Deborah Solomon, Patricia Spradley, Mamie Smith (Pre-Deceased), Bridgett Kelly and Lenora Tiggle as well a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, extended family and church family to cherish her memory.

The family of Sally B Garnett wish to acknowledge the Compassus Hospice Care Staff as well as the Mercy Medical 5th floor staff for the exceptional care that was provided to her. Additionally, our sincere appreciation for the many expressions of love, kindness, compassion and prayers during our time of bereavement.
