Sally Lou Slee Shaffer, 78, of Metamora, Michigan, formerly of Spencerport, New York, Speedway, Indiana, and Rossiter, Pa., died on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at McLaren Hospital in Lapeer, Michigan.Sally was born on March 16, 1938, to Lancelott Slee and Margaret Dunmire of Punxsutawney. She graduated from the Punxsutawney High School Class of 1956 and also studied interior decorating. Sally worked as a secretary for both the Jordan Store and Bertamini Coal Company in Punxsutawney before becoming a mother and homemaker. She also volunteered for the Spencerport, New York, school's music organizations and John Knox Presbyterian Church in Greece, New York. She loved family, nature, music, reading, photographs and owl collectables and was always thoughtful, caring and generous to family, friends and others.Sally is survived by her husband of 57 years, Edwin Shaffer. She is also survived by her daughter, Brenda (William) Carroll of Scottsville, New York; her son, Scott (Cynthia) Shaffer of Orange, California; two grandsons, Corry and Cameron; four nephews; and a niece.In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her sisters, Peggy Casaday and Patty Graham of Punxsutawney.Plans will be announced for a spring 2017 celebration of life in Punxsutawney.Memorial contributions can be made in her name to Seven Ponds Nature Center, 3854 Crawford Rd., Dryden, MI 48428; or the Presbyterian Church of Punxsutawney, 106 E.
