SCOTTSBURGDEATON, SAM E., 74, died on Tuesday, July 11, 2017. He was born on August 31, 1942 in Breathitt County, Kentucky, the son of the late John and Beulah Deaton.Sam was retired from Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Indiana and was also a farmer. He graduated from Salem High School in 1961 and was a member and Elder of the Little York Christian Church. Sam was also the Secretary for the Elk Creek Conservancy and a member of the Little York Gibson Township Volunteer Fire Department. He liked watching NASCAR and loved attending and supporting all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren in their activities. Sam was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Johnny Deaton. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Malvina M. (Cox) Deaton; a son, Eddie Deaton (Shelley); a daughter, Connie Jean Brewer (Mark); three brothers, Walter (Sue), Bill and Ronnie Deaton; two sisters, Ruth Mallory and Malvery McKim (Ron); five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral Service: 1 p.m. Sunday at Collins Funeral Home with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Saturday and after 11 a.m. Sunday.
