Samuel Ray Perkins 73, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on Friday, Oct. 12 2018. Samuel was born in Idabel, Oklahoma October 20th, 1945. Sam attended Memorial High School where he was on the soccer team. He graduated from Texas Southern University with a BBA degree and moved to Dallas, Texas to pursue his fortune. After returning to Idabel, Sam operated a land clearing and landscape tractor service. Sam later saw an opportunity in the oil and gas field and became an independent land man for oil and gas companies and moved back to Texas. Sam traveled all over the southwest. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed music, many friends, motorcycles and the Houston Astros.
A memorial service celebrating Sam’s life will be held at Lily of the Valley Baptist Church on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.He is survived by his wife of 58 years Charlotte Perkins, Son Ulysses Perkins SR, along with 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son Frank Perkins Sr.
