Samantha Lynn Nichols Brown, 55, of Beverly Hills, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast on Friday, August 4, 2017. She was born on December 5, 1961 in Clearwater, FL to William E. & Juanita ( Smith) Nichols. Growing up in Inverness, FL, Samantha met the love of her life in Mr. Bond's 10th grade English Class at Citrus High School in Inverness and they recently celebrated 36 years of marriage. Samantha enjoyed traveling with her husband, Richard and grandchildren, taking at least one exciting trip every summer. She graduated with her Associates degree in Funeral Service from St. Petersburg College in June of 1999.Samantha was involved in many community organizations. She was a past Secretary of the Ladies of the Elks, Lodge 2693 in Homosassa, she was a volunteer and later the Director of Day Star Life Center in Crystal River, she was a volunteer and later the Director of Citrus Lifeline, past president of The league of Women Voters in Homosassa, and she was the past director of Life South Blood Center in Lecanto. She was the past President of the and with the help of many Citrus County Professionals, established the first Citrus County Heart Ball. Together with her husband, she owns Brown Funeral Home and Crematory in Lecanto, FL.Samantha was an accomplished seamstress and among many things, she designed and made the dinosaur costumes for the plays at Rock Crusher Elementary School while her children were enrolled there. Those costumes were used for many years after her children left for middle school. She was an avid reader and enjoyed everything from Sci-Fi to biographies. Samantha loved cooking and making huge meals for her family.Samantha was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, William E. Nichols, Jr., Joseph Teague, David Ford and Evelyn Nichols. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Richard T. Brown of Beverly Hills; children, Igrayne and husband Michael Dias of Crystal River, Rhiannon and husband Jon Carvalho of Ruskin, and Richard T. Brown, II and companion Morgan Miller of Ft. Lauderdale; siblings Sylvia (Jimmy) Romano of TX, Barbara (Leroy) Baca of NM, Florence Ford of TN, Bernice (James) D' Agostino of NM, Randolph (Luise) Nichols of AL, Henry Bason of VA, Linda (Keith) Johns of FL, and Noel (Dave) Swan of FL; grandchildren, Roderick Bruce, III, Jade Dias, Johnathan Bruce, Myles Dias, Macie Dias, Natalie Carvalho, Isabelle Carvalho and Jocelyn Carvalho; many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws as well as her beloved dog Ember.Visitation will be from 2-8PM, Friday, August 11, 2017 at Brown Funeral Home & Crematory in Lecanto, FL with a Rosary being said at 6PM. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11AM, Saturday, August 12, 2017 at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Lecanto with Father Johnson as head Celebrant and Father Ryszard from St. Benedict Catholic Church as co-Celebrant. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Inverness. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend; she was a teacher, helper, and confidant to many. She is irreplaceable and will be dearly missed.
