Samuel DeBoerAGE: 89 • LewesSamuel DeBoer, Age 89 of Lewes, DE, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at home. He was born on Nov 5, 1927 in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, son of the late Andrew and Alida DeBoer.Mr. DeBoer was a 1950 graduate of the University of Delaware with a degree in Agriculture, having married Elizabeth "Betty" France in 1949 while juniors at the University. He was the farm manager of the St. Andrew School farm for four years, then moved to Lewes to become a commercial fisherman. In the late 1950s he found his lifelong work as a sales and technical representative in the welding and metallurgy industry. Retiring in 1992, he and Betty enjoyed the beach, family and friends in Lewes. They were very active members in the Lewes Yacht Club for 61 years. Sam and Betty wintered in Bradenton, FL.In addition to his parents Mr. DeBoer was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Betty, who passed on December 23, 2016. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Helen Van Wyk.He is survived by his daughters: Debbie Kee and her husband Ed of Lincoln, DE, and Donna Nacchia and her husband Joseph of Wilmington, DE; his grandchildren Karey Kee Henderson, Jessica Kee McKenzie, Veronica and Samuel Nacchia; and his great grandchildren: Ivy and Aven Reed and Reilly, Michael and Casey McKenzie.A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 10:30 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 9:30 AM. A Private Entombment will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE.
