Samuel Hall, 81, of Brownington Village, Vermont, passed on June 24, 1877. Samuel was born on October 27, 1795 in Croydon, New Hampshire. Hall was an American educator and clergyman. In 1814, Hall decided to become a teacher and teachin Rumford, Maine. This was the beginning of a reformation of education. Later after teaching, in 1823 he found a training school for teachers. He started to get reconized for his extensive published writings on a variety of topics related to children’s education and classroom techniques. He wrote instructional manuals on everything from teaching mathematics and geology to hands-on activities for these disciplines. His writings on the instruction of history and geography received the highest praise. He believed the best way for children to learn history was to walk around their local surroundings, hearing about the history of their town. Hall became part of the oldest education association in America, called the American Institution of Instruction. Hall impacted education for all Americans. He came up with new instructions and ways to perfect American education.
