SANDOR ('SANDY') BARRY BRENT, PH.D. Sandor ('Sandy') Barry Brent, Ph.D., 84, passed away on Dec. 5, 2016 at his home in Santa Fe. Sandy was born on Nov. 13, 1932 in New York City. He attended Bronx High School of Science, Washington University, and Clark University, where he earned a doctorate in psychology under the mentorship of Prof. Heinz Werner. Sandy taught developmental psychology at Wayne State University in Detroit from 1962-1997 and retired to Santa Fe in 1998. Sandy sailed the world in the Merchant Marine, studied Zen Buddhism in Japan, and was an active member of Rabbi Nahum Ward-Lev's Beit Midrash in Santa Fe for 10 years. He is survived by his son Michael (Tamara) and grandsons Rafi and Gabi; his daughter Lizzi Wolf (Len); his brother Allan (Tsila Zalcman) and nephews James, Steven, and David. The funeral will be held in Santa Fe at Rivera Family Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 417 East Rodeo Road, on Sunday, December 11, at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to HIAS (http://www.hias.org), which works to protect and resettle refugees around the world, or to a fund the family has established to support the teaching and scholarship of Rabbi Ward-Lev (https://www.gofundme.com/rabbi-nahum-wardlev-scholars-fund).
