This obituary is administered by:
BRICKERSandra D. Sandra D. Bricker, age 58, passed away peacefully from complications from a pulmonary embolism on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at University of Toledo Medical Center in Toledo. She was born on January 29, 1958 in Oceanside, California to Robert and Jessie Bricker. She was raised a Cincinnati Kid, Sandie spent her formative years dreaming about movies and television shows that she would write. In fact, Sandie graduated from the Hollywood Scriptwriting Institute in Hollywood, California. While searching for ways to pay tuition, Sandie worked as a personal assistant and publicist to some of daytime television's most notable stars. Sandie moved to Florida when her mother's health declined. As she cared for her mother, Sandie launched her writing career. A gifted author of 27 books, Sandie had a long and distinguished career in the inspirational Christian fiction market. She was also the managing editor of Bling, an imprint for Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas. In November 2013, Sandie relocated to Toledo, OH. She was a member and volunteer at CedarCreek Church and was a beloved member of her LifeGroup. Sandie also treasured her time with friends at NorthRock Church in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Sandie was defined by her courage and her faith. She loved Jeremiah 29:11 and friends could always count on Sandie for prayer and encouragement. An ovarian cancer survivor, Sandie dedicated her time and talent to the Ovarian Cancer Connection of Northwest Ohio.Over the years, Sandie was nominated for numerous industry awards and nominations. In 2014, Sandie received the Editor of the Year Award from American Christian Fiction Writer Association. In 2014, Sandie also received a Certificate of Recognition from the Hancock County Committee of the Ohioana Library Association. Her friends and colleagues treasured not only Sandie's tremendous talent, but her love for life and people. Friend and fellow editor, Barbara Scott met Sandie years ago and recalled those early years, I met Sandie through her writing. The moment I read Sandie's proposal, I knew that I had met a soul sister. Sandie's writing critique partner Eva Marie Everson spent many hours on the phone with Sandie as the ladies honed their craft. There's a Sandie-sized hole in my heart now, but I'd rather live with that than having had never known her at all.She is survived by her best-friend and Sister-in-Christ of 43 years, Marian Miller; brother, Terri (Laurie Frankel) Bricker; nephew, Jonas Frankel-Bricker as well as multitudes of treasured cousins and friends both near and far.Special thanks to her surgeon, Dr. Jason Schroeder, Dave, Alexis, Trudi and the staff at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Northwest Ohio as well as friends who visited, called, sent cards and prayed for Sandie during her illness.Friends and others whose lives Sandie touched are invited to the Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Road, Toledo, OH 43612 on Sunday, November 27 from 4-7 p.m. to celebrate Sandie's life, followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. Memorial service will be led by her friend, Barb Roose.
