Sandra L. (Hall) Szikszay, age 73, of Clayton, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 13, 2017 at her home with her husband by her side.Mrs. Szikszay was born on December 28, 1943 in Warren, OH, the daughter of the late James and Verna Hall.As a young teenager & adult, she was a member of the American Junior Bowling Congress & the American Bowling Congress. With her parents, she founded the Junior Bowling Leagues in the Northeastern area of Ohio. Her father was an avid instructor while she & her mother were coaches. Sandi also handled the duties of the secretary of the leagues. Her own bowling ability progressed to the point of almost turning professional.She was baptized at the Champion Presbyterian Church in Warren, Trumbull County, OH. She later transferred her membership to the Smyrna Presbyterian Church. Sandi graduated from Champion High School in Champion, OH in 1961 and worked as a Bookkeeper until her retirement in 1991.She studied genealogy on her family and was also able to find lineage to Hungary of her husband's parents. From her studies, she became an expert genealogist and became an instructor teaching others as an on-line genealogy host for AOL. Sandi was a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Trumbull County Ohio Genealogical Society, Ohio Genealogical Society, First Families of Ohio, Mahoning County Ohio Genealogical Society, South Bend Indiana Genealogical Society, Salem Ohio Historical Society, Columbiana County Ohio Genealogical Society, Stark County Ohio Genealogical Society, Elkhart County Indiana Genealogical Society, The Hereditary Order of Descendants of the Loyalists and Patriots of the American Revolution.Sandi was preceded in death by her grandparents, Inez and Corwin Scott; and her parents, Verna and Jim Hall.She is survived by her husband of 50 plus years, Albert Z. Szikszay Jr.; daughter, Melissa (John) Cornwell; estranged daughter, Aimee M. Holthaus; grandchildren, Amanda (Taylor) Frampton, Zachary Hunter Holthaus and Courtney Marie Elizabeth Holthaus; and her beloved Pomeranians, Sir Koda Bear Matia and Candy.A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 4 p.m. Burial will be privately held.The family would like to extend a special thank you to Katera Calhoun, RN, Tenly Davidson, RN, Liz Miller, Social Worker, Neya Wicks, CNA, Marty Rockey, LPN, Kim Dulin, Volunteer, Cindy Drew, NP, and all the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice, for their professional and loving care provided to Sandi.In lieu of flowers, donations to any Hospice Organization of choice would be appreciated.
