Sandra Ruth (Burchard) Young, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2017, as a result of a cardiopulmonary arrest. Sandra was born on August 6, 1943 in Brockton, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Ellsworth and Gwendolyn (Reed) Burchard. Sandra graduated from Brockton High School in 1961 then worked as a legal secretary. After being a homemaker, she worked in the cafeterias of the East Bridgewater school system while also working part-time as a caterer at the Canoe Club Ballroom. Sandra then worked 20+ years as a drive-through attendant at Burger King in Brockton. After retiring 12 years ago, she liked to stay at home and led a quiet life with her beloved cat, Emmy, whom she cherished. Sandra is survived by her two children, her daughter, Debora (Young-Brown) Hooper and her husband Pete, and her son, Barry; her brother, Joseph Burchard and his wife Pauline; her long-time companion, Tom Roderick, and his children, Kenneth and Nicole; her five grandchildren, Rachel, Christopher and Caitlin Brown, and Alia and Arden Young; and four step-grandchildren, Summer, Bryn, Brandon and Bailey Hooper, and one step-great grandchild, Phoenix Tiller; and a number of other relatives and close friends. Visiting hours for family and friends will be at the Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138), Easton, on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held at a future date.
