Scott D. AndersonScott Anderson, 63, of Canton, SD, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Sanford USD Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Scott David Anderson was born on April 30, 1953 in Brookings, South Dakota to Vesta A. (Sinjem) and Melvin C. Anderson. In 1954, the family moved to Norwalk, CA. The family lived in the Los Angeles area until the 1960s, at which time they moved to Bonita, CA. Scott graduated from Bonita Vista High School in 1971. While living in California, Scott worked for a variety of companies doing several jobs, such as residential management, shipyard welding, as well as managing retirement communities. After moving to South Dakota in 1991, he worked for Land O'Lakes, Swift, Martel Lift Systems, Domino's Pizza, as well as Bidwell before retiring in 2011. Scott was a very active person, he loved working with his hands and fixing things, he was very passionate about being a welder and a mechanic. He had a quick wit and great sense of humor. Even if he met someone one time, they were considered a friend. He loved talking and visiting with people, sharing stories and jokes. He was the life of any family gathering, as he was the one to make everyone laugh. His children were his pride and joy. He loved spending as much time with them as he could, as well as spending time with his grandson, Landon. He was kind, generous, and thoughtful. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. Grateful for having shared his life are his mother, Vesta of Sioux Falls, His siblings, Dawn Childers of Sioux Falls, Kelly Anderson of Sioux Falls, Susanne Anderson of Sioux Falls, Mary Jo (William) Flinn, Fort Collins, CO. His children, Stephanie Carpenter and Scotty Anderson and his grandson, Landon Carpenter of Sioux Falls. As well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father Melvin, and brother Lawrence.Memorial services for Scott will begin 12 Noon at St. Michael Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Lennox, SD.
