Selma "Sally" AhrendtSelma "Sally" Ahrendt, 94 of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at the Sanford Centennial Hospice Cottage.Sally Rogness, daughter of Helge and Bertina (Sullestad) Rogness, was born on April 13, 1922, in rural Alcester. She grew up and received her education, graduating from Augustana Academy in Canton, SD, in 1940. She moved to Sioux Falls, SD, and attended at Nettleton College while working at N.W. Security National Bank from 1941 to 1942.Sally was united in marriage with Howard Ahrendt on September 6, 1942, in Hudson, SD. Sally worked for three years at the Sioux Falls Airbase during WWII and at the Veteran's Administration from 1945 to 1947. Howard passed away on July 16, 1977.Sally was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and worked there part-time as secretary. She was active with the Sioux Valley Hospital Auxiliary and Augustana University Fellows. She was also a member of Eastern Star, and volunteered with RSVP and Sioux Valley Hospital for over 40 years. She enjoyed flowers, birds, and time spent working on Genealogy. Time spent with her grandchildren was especially important to her.Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Dr. John Ahrendt, Stone Mountain, GA, Susan Bream and her husband Dr. Richard, West Boylston, MA, Steven Ahrendt, Sioux Falls, SD, Mary Natwick, St. Peter, MN; sister Berneice Oberling, Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Melissa and Christopher Ahrendt, Siri Bream and fiance Matt Garrett, Baird Bream and wife Kelsey Robbins, Laura Werneke and her husband Michael, Jameson Natwick and fiancee Melissa Street, Alex Natwick; one great-grandson Harrison; and many other relatives and friends.Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard, a brother Melvin, and sister Opal Rogness.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Howard J. and Selma "Sally" G. Ahrendt Scholarship Fund c/o Augustana University or the Sioux Falls Banquet.Visitation will begin at 12 pm with the family present from 4 to 6 pm on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Miller Funeral Home, 507 South Main Avenue. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, January 20, 2017, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church Chapel with burial at Hills of Rest Cemetery.
