On April 16th, 2023, Selma Jenkins passed away peacefully at the age of 98. Born on January 6th, 1925, in Charleston, South Carolina, Selma was a beloved member of her community.

Selma was the youngest of three siblings and spent her childhood in Charleston, developing a love for the ocean, music, and her family. After graduating from high school, Selma pursued her passion for nursing and worked at MUSC for over 30 years.

While Selma was dedicated to her work, she always made time for her family and friends. She had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Selma enjoyed playing the piano and singing, and in her younger years, she was a member of the church choir.

Selma was also an avid reader and enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was gardening or going for walks along the beach. She loved animals, especially cats, and donated to local animal shelters throughout her life.

Throughout her 98 years of life, Selma touched the hearts of many. She is survived by her two children (Glenda Chestnut and Michael Chestnut), four grandchildren, (Keressa Chestnut,Kentrall Chestnut, Kentrish Wesley and Kendrick Wesley)and six great-grandchildren ( Tyrin Addison,Jaylen Wesley,Brianna Muldrow,Zakira Knight,Magic Knight and Kentez Wesley).Her family and friends will always remember her as a warm, kind, and selfless person.
