Shadlee (Shad) David Fletcher, 33, of Kennewick, Washington ended his life on Thursday, June 8, 2023 after a long battle with depression and inner demons.
Shad was born in Kennewick, Washington on January 26, 1990.
Shad is survived by his parents, Christy Sonnier and Shawn Edmonds Fletcher, his fiancé Shaylee North and their son Devon Fletcher. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Shad is preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Norma Fletcher, his son David James shared with former spouse, Ashley Bronson and his cousins, Sharee and Dante Edmonds.
Shad had a troubled life, but he had a heart of gold; anyone from his childhood or adult life could confirm. He was kind, funny, and charismatic. In turn, doing his best to block out the negatives, which is where his demons came into play. After traumatically losing his first son, David James six years ago, his life took a turn for the worse. Drugs and alcohol offered Shad an escape from his inner demons that he faced throughout his life and in the end, led to his suicide.
His family would like to speak the truth about his death. We know the pain of his suffering. We know the pain of our own suffering as his family. Speaking the truths (no matter the circumstances) surrounding the epidemic of addiction and suicide may be the difference between life and death for someone. In honor of Shad’s life, we ask that truth be spread in regards to this epidemic and awareness be raised.
Shad’s life will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Einan’s at Sunset Funeral Home in Richland, WA.
