PRESTON - Sharlene "Shar" Lindley Rasmussen passed away peacefully at home Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007. She suffered without complaint for over seven years from rheumatoid arthritis. Shar was born on July 2, 1931, to Logan and Frances Vearnell Christopherson Lindley in Long Beach, Calif., the youngest of three children. When Shar was 10 years old her mother passed away, and Shar went to live with an aunt and gained another set of parents and a brother. Shar was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Shar attended grade school in Long Beach and Oakland, Calif. She went to junior and senior high schools in Oakland where she graduated from Oakland Technical High School. She furthered her education by attending night classes where she certified as an accountant and acquired the nickname "Charley." The nickname followed her wherever she worked. Sharlene married Henry Delmer Behrmann in 1951 in Oakland, Calif. They were then sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They had one daughter, Christina (Tina). Shar and Hank later divorced. Sharlene met Leland James Rasmussen, a widower with three children: Laura, Jon and Brad. Shar and Lee were married in 1967 and Shar and Tina joined Lee and his children at his ranch in Rupert, Idaho. Shar worked for Hanzel Chevrolet and also for Larsen Motors in Rupert. Sharlene and Lee moved to Burley, Idaho, in about 1994 to allow Shar to care for her elderly mother. Shar was employed by MH Kings Co. in their general office. When she retired, Shar and Lee moved to Preston, Idaho, to be closer to Tina. Sharlene loved to read. She was an avid and fast reader. She read everything. She also loved the theater, opera and symphony along with traveling and knitting. She had many interests and could do anything that had instructions. Sharlene is survived by her daughter, Christina "Tina" Ross of Preston, Idaho; step-children Laura (Mike) Coon of Portland, Ore., Jon and Karen Rasmussen of McNeil, Ariz., and Brad Funk of Yakima, Wash.; granddaughters, Shylo (Tim) Moody of West Jordan, Utah, Ande Uriguen of Provo, Utah, and Elizabeth Coon of Oregon; grandson, Joshua Rasmussen of Arizona; "brother" and cousin Ronald Banks, Salt Lake City, Utah; nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her biological parents; her second set of parents (aunt and uncle); her husband, Lee; her son-in-law, Walt; and several aunts and uncles. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at the Pleasantview Cemetery, 1645 E. 16th Street, Burley, Idaho. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.webbmortuary.com
