Sharon Dolan Obituary

Dec 16, 1941 - May 07, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Dolan, Sharon Sharon passed away in the afternoon of Sunday, May 7, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on December 16, 1941 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She attended Wayzata high school where she met the love of her life, Don Dolan. After a three-year courtship, the couple was married on September 16, 1962. During the early years of their marriage, Sharon worked as a designer for the Dayton Company and S&T Office Products. Don and Sharon settled in White Bear Lake Minnesota and had two daughters, Molly and Annie. Sharon obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota in 1973. Throughout Don's career as an executive and business owner, he often sought Sharon's council. Her excellent advice and measured perspective were instrumental to his success. A professionally trained artist and interior designer, Sharon loved painting and all forms of art and creative expression, a passion she shared with her granddaughter, Lucy, who is also a talented artist. She was a long-time member of the Cloud House art group in Scottsdale where she was known as a beautiful artist whose heart shone with a light that saturated her paintings. Since 1994, Don and Sharon have split their time between Mahtomedi, MN and Scottsdale, AZ where they enjoyed golfing and spending time with friends at the White Bear Yacht Club and Desert Mountain Club. Sharon was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. She and Don visited several countries including Africa, New Zealand, Scandinavia, and her personal favorite, France. Sharon was a lover of animals, especially her West Highland Terrier, Grover, and she often made donations to the AHS. An amazing wife, mother and friend, Sharon always directed the conversation away from herself and towards others. Even though she was struck with cancer four times, she never wore her health issues on "her sleeve". Always thinking of others first, she never complained even when she was suffering. Her strength and resilience were an inspiration to everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her. Sharon is survived by her devoted husband, Don Dolan, her daughters Molly Dolan and Annie Wissner, her grandchildren Lucy Larson, Ben Wissner Audrey Wissner, and Henry Wissner and her son-in-law Jason Wissner along with too many good friends to count. Towards the end of her life, Sharon found great comfort in her rediscovered faith. She spent time at Bible study with Don and other couples at Pinnacle Presbyterian in Scottsdale. There's no doubt that Sharon is now in heaven with her parents and sister, as well as her dear sister-in-law, Mary and her beloved Phoebe. If she could still speak, she would wish us all "Happy Trails" and lives lived to the fullest. Sharon's family is holding two memorial services in her honor, one in Scottsdale, AZ, at the Pinnacle Peak Presbyterian church chapel on May 18th at 11am and a second service in Mahtomedi, MN, at St. Andrews Lutheran Church on June 8th at 10:30am. Both services will be followed by a luncheon. Arrangements entrusted to Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary.
