Sharon Giesinger Obituary

Apr 24, 1947 - Jan 06, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
Sharon Giesinger April 24, 1947 - December 6 2016 Sharon Giesinger (Olsen) passed away Tuesday, December 6th, 2016 at the age of 69 years. She was born on April 24, 1947 in Regina, Saskatchewan to Walter and Kathryn (Gwilym) Olsen. Sharon is predeceased by her parents, Walter (April 17, 2004) and Kathryn (April 29, 2014). She is survived by her children Glenn Giesinger, Ryan Giesinger (Shawn), her "adopted" daughter Karen Leader (Steven), her grandchildren Lillyan and Tyler (Ryan), Mya and Ellie (Karen), her brother Don Olsen (Georgina), his children Chloe Hughes (Neal), Cole Olsen, Kaeden and Makenna, and his grandchildren Callie and Logan (Chloe).Sharon had valiantly battled a second time with cancer until November 19, 2016 when she was taken to hospital via ambulance. She remained in her customary high spirits, a beacon of inspiration to others around her despite her own failing health until her body began to decline in earnest and she was moved into palliative care. In her last days she was surrounded by dearly beloved friends, her children and the nursing staff who had been so struck by her kindness and gentle spirit. Even in the sunset of her life she built bridges, healed sundered hearts, and made amends in truth to her nature. Her last hours were spent holding the hands of her sons and listening to them talk. She passed peacefully in the arms of her children - her final gift. The family would like to thank the staff at Pasqua Hospital for the exceptionally tender and compassionate care given to our sister, mother and grandmother. Anyone wanting to honor Sharon's life with a memorial donation is requested to make a contribution in support of cancer research. A celebration of Sharon's life will occur on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 550 Sangster Blvd. Bishop Stephen Williams will officiate. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service. Sharon will be fondly held in our hearts and dearly missed.
