Sharon Newby Litsey, 64, of Bardstown, formerly of Springfield, passed away at 2:59 p.m., Monday, May 22, 2017, at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville.She was born on June 2, 1952 in Lebanon, to the late James Robert and Hattie Kate Warner Newby.She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Springfield and was a retired employee of Heaven Hill Distillery.Preceding her in death was her twin sister, Karen Livers, on Oct. 16, 1998 and a brother, Benny Grundy Jr. on June 5, 2006.Survivors include, two daughters, Bridget Bridgewaters of Louisville and Georgina Knott (B.J.) of Shelbyville; three grandchildren, James M. Knott Jr., Dorien Bridgewaters and Sydney Bridgewaters; George Litsey; six sisters, Ruth Ann Wansley (Danny) of St. Louis, Missouri, Christine Newby of Springfield, Linda Pearl Jackson (Fred), Annette Dence (Harry), Paulette Baker (James) and Carolyn Gwinn all of Lexington; two brothers, Jerry Newby (Debbie) and James Newby (Marcia) of Louisville and several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Natasha Yocum of Winchester.Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 26, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Livers, officiating.Burial was on Cemetery Hill in Springfield.Serving as honorary pallbearers were Jordan Newby and Justin Newby, James Baker and Robert Dence.Casket bearers were Jason Newby, Aaron Yocum, Chad Newby, Shawn Wansley, Mason Jones and Eric Gwinn.Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
