ASMA-GALLOWAY, Sheila Jo 71, of Oracle, Arizona, passed away in her home early morning Wednesday, October 26, 2016. The world dimed slightly on this day, and will never shine quite as bright again. Sheila was born on February 8, 1945 to Freeman and Mary (Vandiver) DeVaney in Sumiton, AL. Her family moved to Tucson in 1962. She graduated from Rincon High School in 1963 and entered her adult life with fierce independence and gusto. Sheila is survived by her loving spouse and best friend of 23 years, Eddie Galloway. She is also survived by a large and loving family; mother, Mary Devaney, 97; sister, Sherry Lee, 78; daughter, Jody Kaiser, 52 (Jim); son, Jason Jones, 44 (Danielle); stepdaughter, Teri Jo, 44 and stepsons, Jim Powell, 46 and Michael Galloway, 35 and her grandchildren, Alexis, 19, Morgan 12, Harrison, 12, Savannah, 22, Shelby, 18, Matthew, 16, Leah, 15 and Alana, 12. Sheila was preceded in death by her father, Freeman DeVaney and her son, Rusty Jones. Sheila was a burst of light and energy to all who knew and loved her. She was devoted to the Baha'i Faith and lived every day in service to God and her Faith. She retired in 2006 from a fulfilling career as a Corrections Officer with the Pima County Jail. She spent her retirement loving on her family, cats and community. Sheila was smart, funny and beyond beautiful. She touched so many lives just by being her true self. She requested that upon her death, we inscribe on her headstone and share her words, "She Tried". Our hearts are aching, knowing we will miss her presence until we meet her again in the next world. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, Oro Valley, AZ. Burial will take place afterwards in the Oracle City Cemetery.
