On Thursday, April 18th 2024 Shelley Ann Exeter, loving wife and mother of three passed away at the age of 67 after fighting a long heroic battle with cancer. Shelley was born to Calvin and Phyllis Gibbs in Vernal, Utah on June 20th 1957. She grew up in Vernal, Utah and Rangeley, Colorado along with her 3 siblings Dan Gibbs (Loyce), Doug Gibbs, Leslie Migilori (Kirk). She graduated from Rangely High School in 1975. She earned an associates degree from Utah Tech University which enabled her successful life long career as a legal secretary. This led her to final career move as the executive assistant to 3 Utah Attorney General's.
Shelley survived by her loving husband of 43 years David Exeter. Together they had 3 wonderful daughters Erin Higuchi (Fabio), Traci Nuttall (Adam), Allie Hardman (Garret) and her 6 amazing grandchildren Paige, Brooklyn, Isabelle, Kohen, Liam and Hudson whom she adored.
She had a light about her that naturally drew people to her. She made everyone around her feel loved and accepted from extended family, neighbors to coworkers. The amount of lives she touched was countless. Shelley made everyone she came in contact with smile because she was simply a joy to be around. Anyone who knew her loved her. Her wonderful attitude through her illness was inspiring. She would often say, "You don't have to look very far to be grateful". This lifelong attitude made her a hero to all who knew her.
Shelley will be missed by so many. We hope that she can live on through her legacy of generosity, kindness and selflessness.
We would like to thank all of the nurses, doctors and wonderful caretakers at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. We are humbled by all the kind words and memories shared with our family since her passing.
In Shelley's memory, please take a moment to spread a smile and some kindness to others. We will be having a celebration of life to honor Shelley on Saturday, May 18th 2024 from 11:00am-3:00pm at Dave and Shelley's home 10140 S. Glenmoor View Lane, South Jordan, Utah 84009.
