Shirley DeBuskKnoxville, TNShirley Anne DeBusk, devoted wife, mother, and "Nana" passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 while in the arms of her family. She was born on May 21, 1942, to Elizabeth and Robert L. Adcock, Jr., in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she lived a full and beautiful life raising her family. She served as Youth Ministry Director at St. Mark United Methodist Church and graciously entertained so many in the Rocky Hill Community with her smile, charm and loving heart.She often volunteered to serve in a number of charities. Shirley and her husband Bob, lived in Florida, but returned to Georgia to be close to her son, John A. George, Jr.; and grandchildren, Natalie and Teddy George; her step-son, Matthew DeBusk (Shannon); and grandchildren, Blake and Mia. Although, her daughter, Jane George, and grandsons John David and Nathaniel lived in Los Angeles, they were always very close in her heart. Her sisters, Linda Gail Berry (Tom) and Donna Jo Adcock will miss her presence greatly. Shirley was preceded in death by her children's father, John A. George, Sr.A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016, 11:00 AM, at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 7001 S. Northshore Dr., SW., Knoxville, TN 37919. A memorial fund has been established in her name with the University of Tennessee Music Department to aid opera students. Memorial gifts can be made payable to the UT Foundation, and may be sent to UT College of Arts and Sciences Development office, 137 Alumni Memorial Building, 1408 Middle Drive, Knoxville, TN 37996-1331.
