Shirley Elizabeth Starr, 83, of Roseville, CA. passed away on November 14, 2016 in her home. Shirley was born on June 9, 1933 in Lovington, Illinois, the daughter of the late Edwin C. and Lera Ona Fread Poisel. She married Richard C. Starr on May 22, 1955 in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1974. Shirley had been the head of the camera department at Walgreens in Millbrae, CA. for 31 years. She retired and was living in Roseville for the past 11 years. She was actively involved in her senior community, decorating the club house by adding her special touch and making it feel like the holidays year round. She was a big part of the schools her children attended by volunteering to decorate the bulletin boards. She was very artistic and had a knack for making them special. She enjoyed crafts, puzzles, reading, baking and was an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants - rarely missing a game that was either televised or on the radio. She was very active in every aspect of her children's lives. Shirley leaves behind her daughter, Sandy (Bob) Casey of Poway CA.; son Jim (Diana) Starr of Roseville, CA.; grandchildren Alicia (Starr) Urie and Amber Starr; great grandchildren Brooklyn and Rylan O'Callaghan and Starr Wallen; nieces Amy Myers, Vickie Mally, and Patty Sloatman; nephews Jerry and Matt Diller; and brother-in-law Dale Bowman. She was pre-ceded in death by her sister, Thelma Bowman; niece, Lee Anne Martinie and grand niece, Charity Mally. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her. We will always carry her memory in our hearts.
