Shirley FielderAustinShirley Fielder gently passed away on Dec. 4th in Round Rock, Texas at the age of 81. She was born on July 1st 1935, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Teddy, and sister Deane, husband, Richard Fielder, daughter, Donnis Fielder and son, James David Fielder. She is survived by son, Dickie Fielder of Austin, grandaughters Erica Fielder Finley and Morgan Fielder Bacia of Austin, grandsons Cole Fielder of New Braunfels and Cody Fielder of San Marcos and great grandsons Zane and Fielder Finley of Austin.Along her path in life she leaves many loving friends, extended family and customers behind. Shirley was the matriarch and rock of the Fielder Pool Company which operated in San Angelo for over 40 years. She was well respected and responsible for keeping Richard and Dickie organized as they built backyard pools all over West Texas. The company grew to three operations including Abilene and Midland in the 80's and Rich and Shirley moved to Midland to oversee the operation there for over a decade until Richard passed in 1996. Son David, took over the Midland store after Rich passed and continued running it until 2006.Many will remember her sweet smile and demeanor, her gentle, peaceful approach and her unflinching ability to keep the peace and calm between Richard, Dickie and David! Many a friend of the siblings will remember BBQ's, swimming in the family pool or skiing from the dock at the Fielder home on Lake Nasworthy. Shirley was a founding member of St. Mark Presbyterian Church and was active as a deacon, organizing many events over the years. She also was instrumental starting up The Compassionate Friends at St. Mark after Donnis' passing in 1980. Shirley loved to fish off the dock and cook for the throngs of overnighters at the lake house. Erica says, "I loved sleeping over at Nana's because she let me sleep until 3:00 in the afternoon and then she would cook me breakfast."Pallbearers are Todd and Toby Holt, Scott Finley, Adam Bacia, Zane and Fielder Finley. Honorary pallbearer is Bob Housley.There is a viewing and visitation scheduled at Harper Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening. The main service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday morning at St Mark Presbyterian Church on Johnson Street.
