Shirley HillShirley Hill, age 83, of Elllensburg, WA, left her loved ones here on earth on Friday, September 11, 2015. Shirley was born on February 9, 1932 in Atchison, Kansas to Beatrice and Charles Dunham. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1950 and married the love of her life, Wendell Hill, on January 21, 1951. They lived in Topeka, Kansas until 1963, when Wendell accepted a position at Central Washington State College and they moved to Ellensburg with their children. Shirley worked as a secretary at First Presbyterian Church for several years and retired from Central Washington University Foundation as an accountant. Shirley always said that retirement was her best job ever. She enjoyed her family, visits from her grandchildren and great grand children. She especially liked to cuddle the babies. Shirley also enjoyed playing Bridge, her book club and trips to the casino where she was skilled at Spanish 21. She loved to spend hours at the ocean, watching and listening to the waves. Her children remember her as a loving, patient and supportive mother who encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Her family will greatly miss family trips to the ocean with her; her fried chicken, cheesy potatoes, and dry sense of humor. If she teased you - it meant she liked you. Shirley is survived by her four loving children, daughter, Wendy (Rick) Haberman, sons, Mark (Shannon) Hill, Todd (Jean) Hill, Nathan Hill, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth Munson. She was preceded in death by her husband and best friend, Wendell. A memorial service will be held at Ellensburg Presbyterian Church on Friday, September 18, at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice Friends or FISH Food Bank of Ellensburg. There will be a reception in the fellowship hall following the service and the family invites you share in food and fellowship with them. The family also wishes to thank the nursing staff at Kittitas Valley Hospital and the Paramedics and EMT's at Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue for all their truly wonderful care.
