Shirley Jean Brown, 74, of Bardstown, died Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. She was born on Nov. 24, 1940, in Nelson County to the late Raymond and Sallie Mae Tingle Carey. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by a sister, Claudia Curtsinger; and three brothers, James, Frank and Woody Carey. Survivors include her husband, Willard Brown; a daughter, Vicky Grubbs (Dennis), of Bardstown; three sons, Stuart Brown (Sandra), of Bardstown, Timmy Brown (Rhonda), of Bloomfield, Eric Brown (Sherry), of Mount Washington; eight grandchildren, Casey Settles, a grandson who they raised, Lydia Wensil, Renea Walker, Dylan Brown, Matthew Fields, Tricia Hedeguard, John Grubbs and Megan Borders; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation was chosen by the family. A family and friends memorial service will be held at a later date. Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
