Shirley Juanita Jackson Obituary

Apr 05, 1947 - May 22, 2023

This obituary is administered by:

Shirley Jackson, 76, of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, passed on May 22, 2023. Shirley was born on April 05, 1947.

I died down the street from my home at River Bend from a wide assortment of ailments on Monday, May 22, 2023. When my daughter facetiously asked if I was writing my obituary before or after I passed away, I told her “Deana, I know my limitations.”

I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Emmett Greschner and Lura Jaunita Walker, wonderful parents, on April 5th, 1947. It was the era of “Children should be seen and not heard” and my sister Linda and I were thought to be deaf mutes for most of our childhood.

I enjoyed my life and want to thank some of those that made this possible. Topping the list is family and close survivors, the most important, my husband Robert Lewis Jackson, was always my knight in shining amour. He was taken from me suddenly on January 1st ,2003, New years at 12:01; we are together now for eternity.

Deana Billingsley, my daughter gave new meaning to the word “friend”. She was my personal shopper for everything from greeting cards to clothes. She cooked lunch and dinner every week and encouraged me to socialize, exercise and get well, generally making a pest of herself. I don’t know what I would have done without her and thank goodness I never had to find out. My two beautiful grandsons, Seth Billingsley and Reese Billingsley, always my shiniest stars on and off the Motocross tracks. My heart is so full of love for them. Micheal Billingsley, PIA, my son-in-law. My best friend in the whole world, Pat Crabtree, my nephews, Aaron and Brandon Tibbs. All who loved me dearly and will never forget my tenacity, wit, charm, grace and undying love and caring for them. I also left behind bookoo stuff to my daughter and grandkids who have no idea what to do with it, as well as my extensive vocabulary of curse words and about 300 books on plants.

Please join us celebrating her life Saturday, June 3rd at noon at 120 Adam Drive, Belle Chasse, La

Plants, flowers, booze and gourmet foods are welcomed, she wouldn’t have it any other way.
