Rindfleisch, Shirley M.Shirley M. Rindfleisch, 84 years old, of Hartland, and formerly of Mayville, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Rehabilitation Hospital of Wisconsin in Waukesha.A funeral service for Shirley will be held on Monday, February 27th at 5:00 p.m. at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville, with the Rev. Allen Kramp officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 27th from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church. A luncheon will be served following the funeral service. Burial will take place at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Mayville. Shirley Mae was born on June 4, 1932 to Herman and Lillian (Myrick) Sonnenberg in Stevens Point, WI. She was a graduate of Wisconsin Rapids High School. Shirley was a 1954 graduate of U.W. Steven's Point, where she was named 1954 Woman of the Year. She was also the senior editor of "The Pointer" newspaper at U.W. Steven's Point. Shirley was united in marriage to Dale W. Rindfleisch on May 29, 1954 at First Baptist Church in Stevens Point by the Rev. Jewel Pickett.Shirley was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville, where she led an active church life to honor her Savior. She taught second grade in Colby, WI for one year and fourth grade in Wausau for one year. Then she taught fourth grade in Mayville for 38 years. In 1974 Shirley was nominated for the Wisconsin Teacher of the Year. In 1997 she was an exchange teacher with a sister school in Japan. Shirley was active in the Rock River Reading Assoc. and the Wisconsin State Reading Assoc. (WSRA)Shirley is survived by: her husband Dale of 62 years; her sons- David (Kay) Rindfleisch of Oconomowoc and Brian ( Doris) Rindfleisch of Menomonee Falls; her grandchildren- Rebecca (Tyler) Wood, Erin (Leif) Anderson, Dan (Laura) Rindfleisch, Ian (Audrey) Grell, Hannah Rindfleisch, Emily Rindfleisch, Holly Rindfleisch, and Kevin Rindfleisch; her great grandchildren- Rachel, Abby, Emma, Ethan, Levi, and Ava.Shirley is preceded in death by: her parents, her daughter-in-law Kristen, and her granddaughter Kelly.Memorials may be directed to St. John Ev.
