Shirley J. Neiman1931 - 2013Shirley J. Neiman, 82, of Davenport, formerly of Clinton, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at her daughters home in Davenport. Cremation rites will be accorded. A gathering of friends and family will be held Saturday, Aug. 24 from 1-3 p.m. at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. www.papefh.comShirley was born on Jan. 21, 1931, in Clinton, Ia., the daughter of Charles and Stella (Sear) Meader. She graduated from Narimasu High School in Tokyo, Japan. Before leaving for Japan, she also received enough credits to graduate from Lyons High School in Lyons, Ia.Shirley was highly involved with politics her entire life, of late with the Clinton County Democratic Party. She also had many Humanitarian organizations she was involved with. Her favorite thing to do was reading. She had a continual thirst for knowledge.Shirley was employed as a Federal Civil Service worker with the U.S. Army and Air Force for over 13 years. She worked in private business for eight years. Her last and favorite job before retirement was with the state of Wisconsin as a Probation and Parole Officer for over 16 years. Shirley is survived by four children, Stuart Neiman and wife Donna Tersiisky of Clermont, Fla., Stephanie Neiman of Davenport, Ia., Steven and wife Kristine Neiman of Kenosha, Wis., and Samantha and husband Richie Maretti of New Berlin, Wis.; a foster son, Christopher and wife Danielle Wehle of San Jose, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Seth and Haven Neiman of Kenosha, Wis.; two nieces, Carole and husband Roger Behrens of Kenton, Del., and Sherry and husband Clin Forbers of Smyrna, Del.; and nephews, Charles and John Behrens of Smyrna, Del. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Meader, brother-in-law, Joseph Behrens, step mother, Elsie Meader, grandson, Jared Neiman, sister, Mary Jane Behrens, and nephew, Scott Behrens.
