Shirley Ann PriddyShreveport, LA - Shirley Priddy, 88, of Shreveport, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017, after a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 26, at Osborn Funeral Home. Graveside services will begin at 12:00 pm on Friday, October 27, at Forest Park West Cemetery. Officiating will be Jerry Hodge of University Church of Christ.Shirley was born on July 3, 1929, in Banks, Arkansas to
Smith and Beadie McDiarmid. She graduated from Banks High School and went on to graduate from Warner Brown School of Nursing in El Dorado, Arkansas. After graduating nursing school she moved to Little Rock and worked at the VA hospital. It was there that she met the love of her life, Jim. They were married in January 1952 in Little Rock. She faithfully followed him throughout his medical career. She worked as Jim's office nurse in Green Forest, Arkansas assisting him in treating small ailments to delivering babies. They eventually moved to Shreveport where Jim trained as an Ophthalmologist and started a practice there. Shirley then settled into the role of homemaker, raising her three children. Shirley was an active member of Church of Christ North, she found great joy and fellowship in the ladies bible class. She was also known as the "Kool aide lady" bringing kool aide and cookies to the preschoolers at North. She was an avid reader, loved cooking for her family and loved to work in her flower beds. Shirley was happiest when she was with her family and savored every moment with her grandchildren. Everyone who met Shirley was impressed with her kindness, generosity and love for the Lord. She passed on to her children a recipe for life; laughter, humility, commitment, faith, compassion for others, and a love of God and his creation. She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Dr. Jim Priddy, and her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Suzy Adams and husband, Vince; sons, Dr. Tom Priddy and wife, Linda, Mark Priddy and wife, Carolyn; sister, Joye Lewis; brother, Danny McDiarmid; grandchildren, Ashley Wyatt, Lindsey Hunton, Austin Adams, Paige Priddy, Hannah Priddy, Michael Ann Priddy and Halle Priddy; and great-grandchildren, Camp Wyatt, Riley Hunton, Shepard Wyatt, Haven Wyatt, Paisley Hunton, and Chord Hunton.Pallbearers will be Dr. Don Smith, Dennis Lewis, Don Lewis, Philip Smith, Jason McDiarmid, and Austin Adams.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Bossier KIDS, Inc.The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Azalea Estates and caregiver, Wanda Hunter.
