Shirley Royston-McCoySeptember 27, 1951 - December 22, 2016Shirley Royston-McCoy passed away peacefully on December 22, 2016 at the age of 65 in Salem, Oregon surrounded by her daughter and family. Shirley was born on September 27, 1951 in Woodburn, Oregon to Jack and Matilda Royston. She was the eldest of two children. She graduated McNary High School in Keizer, Oregon in 1969. Shirley went to Modern Beauty School and graduated as a hairdresser. After many years as a hair dresser she decided to freelance and work as needed due to her parent's illness. Shirley joined the Moose Lodge and there met her husband John McCoy. They married on September 7, 1991. He passed away on September 3, 1993. She shared her life with Delbert Fislar, who was her partner until he passed away on April 3, 2014. Shirley started to work for the Statesman Journal Newspaper as a Customer Service Representative in 1997-present. She liked to take trips to the beach, play bingo, and spend time with family and friends. Shirley is survived by her daughter Donna Royston; stepsons Greg Fislar and wife Nita and Jeff Fislar and wife Monica; and grandchildren Ashley and Ethen Fislar. She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Matilda Royston; brother Charles Royston; husband John McCoy; and partner Delbert Fislar. Arrangements are being handled by Simon Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn, Oregon. Viewing will be on December 29, 2016 from 1:00-4:00pm at Cornwell. Funeral and burial will be on December 30, 2016 at Saint Louis Catholic Church at 10:30am and followed by graveside service in Saint Louis Cemetery. There will be a reception to follow at Denny's in Woodburn, Oregon from 1:00-2:30pm.
