Angelo, Shirley T. ALBANY Shirley T. Angelo died peacefully surrounded by her family on October 30, 2016, at the age of 78. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Louis Angelo; her children, John Mastalong, Cohoes, Donna Chouiniere (David) E. Stroudsburg, Pa., Kathleen Gilbert (Jeffrey) Fort Myers, Fla.; her grandchildren, Kristin Smith (Terry), Janelle Mabee (Steve), Catherine Mack, Margaret Jessmore(Jason) and Angeline Mack; and great- grandchildren, Violet and Calvin Smith and Jameson Mabee; her siblings, Charlotte Sala, Loudonville, Linda (John) Doemel, Cohoes, Normand Martel; and many nieces, nephews and their families. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rene and Laurette (Chouinard) Martel; sister, Jeanne St.Denis; brother-in-law, Frank Sala. Shirley was born on June 29, 1938 in Cohoes. She married her devoted husband, Louis Angelo in 1964. Shirley went to work at an early age at Tobin Packing Company. She later worked for the New York State Office of General Services and the New York State Mental Hygiene Construction Fund. After moving to Florida in 1982, she began working with her husband on many different businesses. In her retirement, Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, specifically with her great-grandchildren. She always enjoyed her visits back to New York and her time with her sisters and their families. Shirley counted down the days to when they would all see each other, either through her love of Mickey at Disney World, the crisp days of fall in New York or at Christmas, her favorite time of year. Shirley's husband and family will always remember how much she loved them and tried to take care of everyone. She had a quick sense of humor and loved to laugh. Her husband is comforted by knowing that they shared a long and loving life together. Her grandchildren fondly hold onto memories of visiting Disney World with their grandmother and spending time in the palm tree filled Florida that seemed so magical to New Englanders. Shirley loved the holidays and created beautiful ornaments that her family will treasure forever. The family would like to thank Ellis Hospital, Capstone Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Brookdale Niskayuna for all of their care in the past few months. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday, November 5, at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave., Albany. A reception will follow at the West Albany Volunteer Fire House, 113 Sand Creek Road, West Albany. All are welcome to attend and celebrate in Shirley's life.
