LAYTON - Shirley Mae Barfuss Tarbet, 80, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Ogden Regional Hospital. Shirley was born on Jan. 27, 1929, in River Heights, Utah, the daughter of Leo H. and Erma McNeil Barfuss. She married Leeward Dahle Tarbet Jr. on Nov. 4, 1965 in Sandy, Utah. She is a member of the LDS Church in the Layton Fairfield 2nd Ward where she enjoyed service as a librarian and Relief Society visitation supervisor. Shirley worked for many years as a school lunch cook at East Layton Elementary. She was dedicated to her family, spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren and spoiling her cats. Surviving are her husband, Leeward Dahle Tarbet Jr. of Layton; sons, Don H. (Carol) Burrell of Elk Grove, Calif.; Gary L. (Pam) Barfuss of Nibley; Walt (Nona) Mounir of Elk Grove, Calif.; Shane L. (Lisa) Tarbet of Roy; Todd L. Tarbet of Layton; daughter, Kim (Ott) Vongsavath of Clinton; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Barfuss and Dell Barfuss; and three sisters, Beverly Burkhart, Beth Blanchard and Joyce Murray. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Leo Barfuss Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the Snow Creek LDS Chapel, 845 N. 1150 East, Layton, Utah. Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
