She raised two boys and often volunteered in their schools, with Cub Scouts, and with other extra-curricular activities. She loved to travel and enjoyed the beach. She dreamed of being by the ocean and designed their retirement home in St. Augustine Beach, Florida, where she and Sidney spent 26 years before moving to Greenspring Village in Virginia. She volunteered throughout her life: teaching children to read; working as a guide at Fort Matanzas, St. Augustine; and volunteering at the local library and police department.
